We had some very tired feet, but it was such a relaxing, fun time with my hubby.

Sounds like a great trip! Jeremy & I had the chance to take a similar (and too brief) trip to the Baltimore / DC area a few years ago (also sans kids). I think you could spend months at the Smithsonian museums. Definitely plan to take the boys to DC ... but not yet... must wait until they have the attention span to appreciate it a bit more than they would now!
